Kinsta is a powerful and one of the most reputable WordPress managed web hosting providers. Kinsta uses Google Cloud Engine infrastructure to host websites. This is the reason that Kinsta is more scalable, faster, and has 99.9% Uptime.

1. Kinsta vs WPX Hosting — Ease of Use
Kinsta and WPX, both have their own custom dashboards. The Kinsta panel is named “MyKinsta”.
MyKinsta has a clean user interface and provides a rich user experience.
MyKinsta is a strong competitor to WPX hosting when it comes to its custom dashboard. MyKinsta’s dashboard is much better in terms of its overall stability and lack of bugs. Some customers on WPX have reported issues with staging and other features, making MyKinsta the better option for users looking for a reliable user-friendly interface.
MyKinsta also provides an extensive range of analytics that allow users to monitor key elements such as website traffic, uptimes, and downtime. With these tools, customers can observe daily trends, plan accordingly and optimize their websites accordingly. It’s an extremely useful feature that makes managing websites more convenient, especially compared to other competitors in the market where such sophisticated insights are not available.
WPX doesn’t provide this kind of feature. WPX Hosting panel is very basic and simple. Personally, I don’t like the UI of WPX’s custom dashboard. Their design is not clean as compared to MyKinsta.
WPX is a bootstrapped self-funded company. So I assume that these kind of basic things are not their primary goals.
For Ease of use, the WINNER is Kinsta.
2. Server – Kinsta Google Cloud C2 vs. WPX (LiteSpeed)
Kinsta’s Google Cloud C2 is a great choice for sites that require more powerful hardware to handle heavy loads and traffic spikes. Kinsta benefits from the use of Google Cloud’s cutting-edge technology and advanced infrastructure, allowing them to provide services such as automatic scaling, high security, and reliability with its servers. Furthermore, their servers are optimized specifically for compute-intensive workloads. Their dedicated page on Google’s website demonstrates their commitment to providing a quality service.
In comparison, WPX also uses highly efficient LiteSpeed servers which are much faster than Apache servers. Although they don’t have the same level of detail as Kinsta’s page on Google’s website, LiteSpeed has still built an impressive reputation for being ultra-fast – most comparisons have been with Apache or NGINX but not directly against Google Cloud C2’S performance. Despite this unknown factor, both options have exceptionally fast loading times and should be able to suit any organization’s hosting needs.
3. Caching – Kinta’s MU Plugin + Server Caching vs. LiteSpeed Cache
Kinsta offers an easy-to-install MU Plugin with full page and server caching that makes the setup of speed optimization on a website very straightforward. This plugin dramatically decreases load times for static pages and often is enough to increase performance, even without extra optimization plugins. Kinsta also bans cache plugins, so if you’re looking for more additional optimizations, you’ll need to manually configure them or install extra plugins to do the job.
WPX recommends LiteSpeed Cache as their preferred caching plugin since it has exceptionally good reviews on WordPress, has been updated for core web vitals, and provides users with server-level caching that is far faster than competitors such as WP Rocket. In addition, LiteSpeed Cache contains many other tweaks within its settings including Image Optimization, Database Cleanup & Integration, Minification of HTML/CSS/JavaScript files et cetera. All these features mean that no other speed optimization plugin should be needed apart from perhaps Kinsta’s Perfmatters plugin if further unloading of unused CSS/JavaScript is required.
4. CDN – Kinsta Uses Cloudflare, WPX Uses XDN (But Try QUIC As Well)
Kinsta and WPX both use content delivery networks (CDNs) to deliver websites quickly and efficiently around the world. Kinsta relies on Cloudflare, which offers consistent performance for often low latency when compared to other CDN options. While Cloudflare is adequate for most situations, it does not always offer the best performance when looked at from a CDN test site such as cdnperf.com.
WPX has a custom-built CDN called XDN which is highly praised by the company but is not commonly tested outside of the service. As an added alternative, QUIC.cloud can be used with LiteSpeed servers for web hosting too, which has had promising reports but again needs further testing before conclusions can be drawn about its overall efficacy compared to Cloudflare and XDN. Both of these added CDNs are free when using WPX hosting, so it could be worth experimenting with both of them to compare their performance against each other and also to Cloudflare services offered by Kinsta.
5. Speed – Load Time And TTFB Tests
Speed is an important factor to consider when selecting the best WordPress hosting. Different hosting plans can impact the speed of your website in unique ways, and it’s important to understand how individual hosting plans measure up against one another. Review Signal’s recent unbiased test found that WPX had the fastest average response time across various WordPress hosting plans. It’s worth noting, however, that Kinsta did not participate in this benchmark test so their performance could not be compared.
According to Kinsta, On average, client sites experienced 20% faster load times just by moving to Kinsta.
In my own speed tests, I tested WPX’s Business plan and Kinsta’s Starter plan along with several other WordPress hosting providers. No caching plugin or CDN was used as each site was tested on the WP Astra starter site with the same plugins. The results revealed that WPX had a 30ms faster load time average and 56ms faster Time To First Byte (TTFB) average when compared to Kinsta over 336 individual tests done over 1 week period.
6. Data Centers – WPX Only Has 3 Data Centers (Big Con)
WPX is a popular hosting platform, but their small offering of 3 data centers may give you cause for concern. These data centers are located in Chicago, London, and Sydney so if your visitors are not close to these locations then they may have a slow experience due to increased latency. This could be damaging to businesses as TTFB (Time To First Byte) can negatively affect your website performance and SEO rankings.
In comparison, Kinsta has a bigger network of 29 data centers across the globe which allows it to better serve customers no matter where they or their users are located. Their servers span from tech hubs like Tokyo, Seoul, and Warsaw right through to countries such as Taiwan, India, and Canada resulting in very low latency connections worldwide. Additionally, many of the US-based servers have been built with cutting-edge chipsets that result in even faster speeds than ever before.
7. Simultaneous Visits – The Shark Tank Affect On Kinsta
The Shark Tank effect is real for Kinsta hosting. Not only do they host high-traffic sites such as DARTDrones and CodeinWP, but they have become widely known in the WordPress world thanks to the success of entrepreneurs who appeared on the show. Kinsta makes it easy to handle large numbers of simultaneous visitors, allowing businesses to scale quickly and efficiently. Unlike WPX, which is more suited for small to mid-sized websites, Kinsta is designed to easily handle a buildup of traffic when these projects explode in popularity.
Kinsta can handle lots of simultaneous visits with ease but caution should be taken when attempting to run a heavily demanding website on their servers. To ensure performance and reliability when there are large numbers of visitors at the same time, it’s important that businesses review their needs with Kinsta before signing up for service. In some cases, adding extra PHP workers may be required in order to maintain expected performance levels. Thankfully, Kinsta makes it easy for clients to customize their configurations and upgrade resources as needed in order to accommodate higher traffic demands than anticipated.
8. Resource Limits – Kinsta PHP Workers vs. WPX Bandwidth Limits
Resource limits can have a big impact on the performance of your website. Kinsta and WPX each have their own system for resource limits, so understanding them is important when deciding which one to use.
When it comes to Kinsta, the most important limit is the amount of PHP workers included with each plan. These mainly determine how many uncached requests your site can handle at any given time, meaning if you need more traffic or are running dynamic content, you may need to upgrade your plan in order to get more PHP workers. Unfortunately, these upgrades can quickly become expensive.
WPX on the other hand simplifies things by including a certain amount of bandwidth with each plan. With this information in mind, WPX offers a helpful bandwidth calculator where you can input your page size, visitors per month, and page views per month in order to help you pick out an appropriate plan for your needs. This way you don’t have to worry about upgrading in order to keep up with your growing traffic numbers.
10. Email Hosting – Kinsta Doesn’t Include It, WPX Does
When it comes to website hosting, there is one important feature that separates the two most popular services – email hosting. Kinsta does not include email hosting as part of its service, while WPX does offer it (although they don’t support sending bulk emails). It is generally recommended to keep web/email hosting separate in order to save on resources and storage since emails require more processing power and storage than websites do. Keeping these two activities on different servers will lower your overall CPU usage so that you have more capacity for running your website.
Moreover, if you’re already investing in a reliable web host like Kinsta then why not invest in a third-party email service as well? Google Workspace offers great email capabilities with high security and can be integrated into any type of website platform. This way you get the assurance of a premium web host along with the added resource efficiency of having your emails managed separately. Ultimately, even though Kinsta doesn’t include email hosting as part of their package, the benefits of keeping them separate make it worth considering using an alternative provider.
11. Banned Plugins – Kinsta Bans Caching, Backup, and Security Plugins
Kinsta is a managed WordPress hosting provider and in order to provide the best possible experience, they have chosen to ban certain types of plugins from being used on their platform. These plugins include caching, backup, security, and other more obscure ones, as Kinsta already handles all of these for you. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing; it is actually more beneficial not to use these types of plugins as Kinsta handles all aspects of hosting performance for you. This includes efficient caching settings and regular automatic backups so you can be sure your site is secure.
In comparison to WPX, they don’t actually have any policy banning particular types of plugins and therefore allow you full flexibility in what plugins are used within your site’s environment. Although this could seem like an advantage at first glance, having access to everything can also mean that users mistakenly implement the wrong kind of plugin and degrade the quality of their experience with WPX hosts – this is why Kinsta’s policy is generally regarded as better than offering total freedom.
13. Security – Both Are Secure With Guarantees
When it comes to security, Kinsta and WPX are both incredibly secure hosting platforms. Kinsta offers an extra layer of assurance with its security guarantee, which promises that if an attack does occur, it will work with the user for free in order to undo the damage done. WPX also works hard to keep its customers safe by offering free malware cleanup services in the event of an attack.
But no matter how secure the hosting platform may be, there is always risk involved when using a website. That’s why it’s important for website owners and users alike to take extra precautions on their own behalf. This means going through a WordPress Security Checklist and taking measures such as adding two-factor authentication, changing the default admin username, implementing rate-limiting rules, and properly managing user roles. Doing this may not entirely eliminate all risks but can drastically reduce them and help make sure that visitors browsing the site can remain safe while there.
14. Uptimes – WPX Had A Major Outage
WPX saw its first major outage in 2021 when its Chicago data center experienced a long-lasting downtime. This meant that customers were left in the dark and confused, as WPX was slow to respond with an explanation of what happened. It wasn’t until later that they finally posted an explanation on their blog post.
In comparison, established hosting provider Kinsta has never had any major outages. They have a status page so you can always check the statuses of their data centers, MyKinsta, CDN, DNS, and other services. I think this is a fantastic feature to have since it is great for transparency and provides customers peace of mind regarding uptime. Perhaps WPX should consider doing the same by maintaining a status page or something similar as part of their operations moving forward.
All Kinsta plans come with a 99.9% uptime guarantee, as compared to WPX’s 99.5% guarantee.
15. Migrations – Kinsta Is More Professional, WPX Includes A Speed Service
Kinsta and WPX both offer free migrations, but you may encounter difficulties when moving multiple sites over to WPX due to various technical and other issues. Kinsta’s migrations, however, tend to be much more professional and hassle-free. They specialized in WordPress hosting and make sure that the setup process is easy and efficient.
WPX also offers a site speed optimization service which is quite useful for achieving core web vitals. This value-added service comes with their plans at no extra cost, allowing you to customize your performance settings depending on your needs. Their technicians can help you improve your page load speeds and optimize your site while keeping everything secure. While this isn’t available on Kinsta yet, it’s still an attractive feature for users who value speed optimization services.
WPX vs Kinsta Staging Environment
WPX and Kinsta offer convenient one-click staging environments, allowing users to make changes in a testing environment before pushing it live. With WPX, the staging site is considered a “slot” within the total website count offered with each of their hosting plans. This means if you have 5 websites on your plan, 1 of them can be used as a staging site.
On the other hand, Kinsta’s staging is unlimited and does not count toward the total website count offered in each plan. This allows users to create multiple staging sites simultaneously without having to worry about bumping against their limits or paying more money for additional slots. The convenience of this feature allows for quick progress tracking when making updates on websites as well as testing out new features that could potentially benefit businesses.
16. TrustPilot Rating – WPX Has Higher Ratings And More Reviews
When it comes to web hosting companies, TrustPilot ratings can often be used as a guide for evaluating service quality and customer satisfaction. Kinsta currently has a 4.5/5 star rating on Trustpilot with over 450 reviews, while WPX Hosting boasts a higher rating of 4.8/5 stars with over 1,700 reviews. It could be that WPX encourages more reviews from its support team compared to Kinsta, but it’s important to remember that online reviews (positive or negative) shouldn’t always be taken at face value.
Having said that, many customers are making the switch from Kinsta to WPX due to the latter’s customer-focused service and better value. One user in particular reported they had nothing but great experiences since switching; they were content with their decision and encouraged other potential buyers to check out WPX when seeking out a solid hosting company. Ultimately, an analysis of TrustPilot ratings is one way to measure customer satisfaction for any given company – in this case, WPX appears to have a much larger base of satisfied shoppers than Kinsta does.

Though WPX Hosting is also one of the most popular managed WordPress hosting companies out there, it can not beat Kinsta in terms of quality and reliability when making a comparative analysis. WPX hosting is still cost-effective and takes care of security requirements but it’s not made for enterprise-level websites.
